I'm working on these two at the moment - but have put them aside for now. The man is a guy I painted as one of my first portraits about two and a half years ago. I wanted to see how my style had changed since that time...but I'm not sure how much more time I want to spend on this as I probably won't do anything with it.
The second one is of a girl who's picture I took at an arts festival in Hbg last year. I loved how the light was hitting her face and hair and wanted to capture the squint she had because of the extreme sunlight.

Misc. challenges
When my friend, Donna, and I don't make it to our life studio group on Thursday nights - we've started setting up challenges for ourselves to do at home. Last week it was to do a portrait of her granddaughter, Lulu.
These two little portraits of her were done on claybord - and extremely slick surface - almost like painting on tile. They are 5"x6"
This was our challenge for this week: A selfie with dramatic lighting. Painted on Fluid brand hot press paper.

Commissions
I had a number of commissions to complete around Christmas. Here are a few:
This is one of my good friend, LeeAnn and her husband, Craig. I had taken many shots of them outside of their historic house, but thought they looked a bit "hokey", so they posed for me after church one day and I liked the extreme closeup.
I had an extremely hard time getting photos of these two - since they were too far away to take my own photos.
I just followed this little boy around his yard while we chatted and I snapped photos. Very photogenic!
