Old ladies revisited

Here's another attempt at those old ladies I like so much. This time I used regular watercolor paper. It was harder to get the "random" effects I wanted - Yupo was better for that. I don't think I'm done with this, but I'm not sure where to go (or if I want to go) from here.

Yupo Experiment

I have had this lying around for a few weeks and finally "finished" it today. I was obviously experimenting. This is a picture I found on Julie H's facebook. I believe it's her great-aunt. I worked on the Yupo (plastic paper) again and played around with making up my own colors and patterns. (She really didn't have green and blue hair) I explored using some "found" materials - like saran wrap, stencils, stampers, etc for textures.

Ron's class - "Bad Hair Day?"

Ron asked us to do some portraits of ourselves this week. As you can see, I had a bit of fun with it. These were done quickly and not too realistically (at least the green haired one). Oh well...I thought it was fun to do. At least I knew that my model would not complain if I didn't get the likeness to her satisfaction.

Jeanne's class

If any of you follow this blog regularly - you might have thought I've been slacking this week. Actually, the bulk of my work on my art this week has been to read several years worth of Palette magazine and watch an art video about Donna Zagotta. My head is actually swimming with ideas - I think I need to take a break from it.

Anyway...This was my effort from Jeanne's class this week - The white on white of the doll was a challenge. I was not happy with this until I looked at it from across the room - and suddenly it made more "sense" to me. Some art definitely looks better from far away.
